The Surrey Oaks has two Petanque Pistes (or Boule Pitches if you prefer). The first was built in the summer of 2003 by the Surrey Oaks Petanque Club, but due popularity, a second was built in the summer of 2009.
The pistes are available for casual general use at a very reasonable £2 per hour (just ask at the bar). The pistes can also be hired for special events at very reasonable prices (again, ask at the bar but expect to pay something in the region of £5 to £10).
If you don't have your own boule, you can hire sets at the bar, but a deposit will be required.
You should however be aware that the Petanque Pistes are likely to be used by the Surrey Oaks Petanque Club on Sunday afternoons and Monday evenings (weather permitting).

If you want to study the rules in greater detail, the Official FIPJP Petanque rules can be downloaded here, but you probably shouldn't start here if you are new to the game as we all know, the official rules for any game can be large and a little confusing!
