On Saturday 23th July 2005, a green Routemaster double-decker bus visited the Surrey Oaks. It was part of the route for a group of bus enthusiasts. The bus was immaculate and certainly turned a few eyes.
A few eyes also turned as the bus manoeuvred into position just outside the Surrey Oaks only to find that The Surrey Oaks pub sign was stronger than a Routemaster window (enough said!).
This visit is becoming an annual event and the enthusiasts also clearly appreciate a good pint of real ale. For their visit they requested that a mild was available and Ken duly obliged with Rooster's Outlaw's Black Mamba (3.7%), a fabulous mild.
Below are a few pictures of the green Routemaster, a very unusual sight in Newdigate (Parkgate). Unfortunately, the last photo is a bit blurred, but it still captures a smoky departure!
