From the 1st October 2004, the small middle bar at The Surrey Oaks became a no smoking area. The Restaurant was originally the only no smoking area, but this meant that drinkers who prefer not to smoke had to share that area with diners.
The main bar remained a smoking bar until 3rd Jan 2006 when the whole of The Surrey Oaks went no smoking. This was a prelude to the Countrywide smoking ban, which came into force on 1th July 2007.
