On Monday 25th January 2010, the Surrey Oaks hosted a very successful Burns Night Supper.
It was a great evening and the menu lived up to expectations with the Partan Bree (Crab Soup) being very special indeed!
We managed to get in a real Scottish beer as well and although it's a beer we have tasted before, on this night it tasted really good... the beer... Harviestoun's Haggis Hunter, a light coloured ale, full of flavour with an ABV of 4.1%.
Ken (the Landlord) always gives us some interesting facts about Burn's Night and this night was no different. He wrote a poem, all about how the Americans have finally lifted the British beef ban, originally imposed because of BSE! Very amusing. Things then moved on to the more traditional aspects with the tartan/sporran'd landlord reciting the traditional Robbie Burns recital before putting the wee haggis out of its misery! You'd think it would have learnt by now!
There are a couple of photos below (just click on the images) as well as the menu (just in case you missed it!).
