Naff Christmas Presents Auction 2010 - Raises £642 (and more) for charity

On Monday 18th January 2010, the Surrey Oaks held its 7th annual 'Naff Christmas Presents Auction'. All proceeds (including a generous donation - see below) were split between two charities, St Catherine's Hospice (£500) and Tadworth Children's Trust (£500), with the remaining £142 joining the ever growing donation box for the disaster in Haiti (collection organised by St. Peter's Church, Newdigate).

So what raised all this money? Here's a few gems. A pair of green knickers, a small lifelike stuffed kitten (curled up), a cat bed that hangs on a radiator, a carriage clock that no one could get to work, an oily ring (ask Ken!), a air powered finger (the less said the better), etc... you get the idea.

As always though, not everything was naff. There was a bottle of Brew Dog's Tokyo beer, a classical guitar and the now famous Dark Star prize (a free pint of every cask of this Brewery's beer that is sold at the Surrey Oaks in one year).

Everyone seemed to have a great evening and went away with lots of wonderful(!) gifts, presumably early Christmas presents for later this year.

Do remember though, you should not re-auction anything next year because if you do you will be 'fined' £5!

Finally, huge thanks must also go to the Gottlieb Foundation for their unbelievably generous donation of £500, so the total amount to be split between the charities and the Haiti disaster collection is actually a staggering £1142!
