CAMRA always promotes Mild throughout May and this year's campaign is called 'Celebrate Mild in May'. There will also be a National Mild Day on Saturday 9thMay 2009. The Surrey Oaks always supports this campaign by having a mild available EVERY day throughout May.
So what's a mild? In CAMRA's own words:
Milds are black to dark brown to pale amber in colour and come in a variety
of styles from warming roasty ales to light refreshing lunchtime thirst
quenchers range from. Malty and possibly sweet tones dominate the flavour
profile but there may be a light hop flavour or aroma. Slight diacetyl
(toffee/butterscotch) flavours are not inappropriate. Alcohol levels are
typically low.
