On Monday 8th October, 2007, the Surrey Oaks played host to an
interesting event,
Gardener's Question Time. The event was organised by the Newdigate Horticultural Society
and the questions started rolling in at 8pm.
The experienced panel included:
Geoffrey Chandler - Has a fine woodland garden
Mike Charnaud - Exotic Plant expert
Sue Harman - Lillie's and water gardens expert and winner at Hampton Court Garden Show this year.
Richard Nicholas - Tree Surgeon
We all learnt something here, like pruning certain roses with a hedge trimmer! Also remember to keep your
butt out of the sun (water butt that is; but only because the plastic ones do not last long
in the sun). If you've got a walnut tree, but no nuts, don't be afraid to whack its trunk
till bruised (which somehow encourages the nuts to grow)!
