CAMRA Surrey Pub of the Year 2007!

WHO'S THE DADDY?

........ The surrey Oaks is!!!!

Seriously though, The Surrey Oaks has been voted CAMRA Surrey Pub of the Year 2007 for the third year in succession. We are already the CAMRA East & Mid Surrey Branch Pub of the Year 2007, so this is a superb double for our pub.

We must thank CAMRA once again for this award because without CAMRA we would not be able to sell the fantastic real ales that we do today. Our biggest problem now is finding space for another certificate, but we can assure you we will do that as each and every one is proudly displayed in the middle bar.

So how many of us have tasted a bad pint of real ale? There is no excuse for it other than laziness. Real Ale is a living product (not a dead one like lager or the so-called 'smooth-flow' products that are advertised so much) and as such it has to be looked after. From tapping to stillage to cooling in the cellar to cleaning the lines to the serving of a perfect pint...... It does not just happen, it requires dedication.

Many of the newer styles of real ale are very different from the standard so-called 'brown' beers of the past. Many of today's real ales are quite light in colour, full of flavour with the citrus and hoppy tastes creating a very different beer. Do try these styles of real ale; you'll be surprised how many wives and girlfriends will enjoy them as well!

As we are on a 'real' theme, don't forget that The Surrey Oaks is currently selling at least one natural cider and a natural perry (made from pears rather than apples). You should also taste these; again you might be surprised how good they are.

If you are not a member of CAMRA, why not consider joining? There are lots of social events and it's fun. You will even get a chance to help at your own branches Beer Festivals. You'll always find CAMRA membership forms in the middle bar of The Surrey Oaks.
